A Civil Society Group, Justice for Ghana says its planned picketing scheduled for Monday 28th November 2022 at the revolution Square will come off as advertised.

The Ghana Police has dragged Justice for Ghana to the Accra High Court, praying the court to restrain them from holding its picketing at the Revolution Square slated for 28th, 29th, and 30th November 2022.

Reports say police went to court but were too late to secure a hearing notice before Day-1 of the three-day Picketing.

“The Court set the date to hear the Injunction application on Day-2 of the three-day Picketing;
thus, leaving Day-1 uninjuncted. The Ghana Police Service is obliged to provide adequate
security and ensure a peaceful event.

“If the Police secure an injunction on Day-2; then Day-2 and Day-3 will not happen, If the Police
fail to convince the court, then the three-day Picketing will continue as scheduled,” a statement issued by the group said.

It thus asked the Ghana Police to disembark from what it says is the perilous path being taken to block the Legal and Constitutional routes of Law-Abiding Citizens in the country.

“The proclivity of State institutions and overzealous public officers, including Police officers, seeking to please the Executive or President must stop.

“Ghanaians are resolved to be Citizens and not Spectators.”
