Award-winning Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah has added her voice to the many celebrities who have complained about their country people not supporting them but rather try to pull them down when they (actors) try their hardest best to entertain the masses.

According to her, Ghanaians always have a way of bringing people down when they try their best to be at the top. She made this statement on GTV’s prime-time show, GTV Breakfast.

The Pull Him Down Syndrome is a disease where people (we) do not want seeing someone progressing in life. We try by all means to shoot at those going up the social ladder of life. A lot of Ghanaian celebrities such as DKB, Yvonne Nelson, Anokye Supremo, Rev. Yalley, amongst others, now Jackie Appiah, have complained about how this is destroying the Creative Arts industry by not helping it grow and flourish like it should. Jackie said, “Nigeria is where it is because they support each other and if we want to get to that level we need to support each other as well”.

“You meet Ghanaians and they watch Ghanaian movies but they will tell you they don’t watch it, sometimes we like to bring ourselves down. Ghanaians have this kind of pull him Down syndrome which is bad, we need to start lifting each other up because we rise by lifting others and that’s what we need to cultivate in Ghana”, she said. Jackie Appiah is one of the most respected Ghanaian actresses that is loved by all and rarely has controversies surrounding her.
