Ghana Football Association (GFA) General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo has assured Ghanaians to be confident in the Black Meteors to secure a place in the 2024 Olympic Games to be staged in Paris.

The Ghana U-23 team haven’t made it to the Olympic Games since 2004 and are poised to bounce back after 20 years with a glaring opportunity before them in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in June to be held in Morocco.

According to Harrison Addo, all major stakeholders are playing important roles to ensure that the team gets ready for the tournament in Morocco, perform well, and eventually book a place in Paris 2024.

“The quest is to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games next year, so the technical team, the FA, and everybody is geared up, in terms of the preparations to ensure that we present a good team.

“We want to give them good preparations so they are in the position to compete with the rest of Africa in terms of the other teams that will come for the tournament.

“Three full slots are available for the Olympics, and the other is the 50/50 slot, so we want to take one of the slots for the Olympic Games,” he said.

The Black Meteors qualified for the AFCON after securing a 2-1 aggregate victory over Algeria last month.
